Oh for a CATastrophic life!

This was a week that was! Who would have imagined that so many famous people would die within a few days of each other? I won't ruminate on it here, but will only say that if there is a reward in the hereafter I wish them the speediest journey toward that reward.

While some people are struggling to find work one hears or reads about companies spending millions on structural improvements or bonuses for executives and it all seems so surreal. How can one family struggle to pay rent while another worries about where to vacation this year?

I'd much rather be a cat. When Chauncey was alive, (a long haired multi breed) she had a great time. First it was breakfast, around 7 am - then a stroll around the front yard - maybe chase a bird or two, and a restful nap in the backyard (all that bird chasing gets you a little tired). Then more food, more naps, more stretching and then go inside the house to jump on the couch for another quick nap before the final bedtime snack.

Chauncey never had to work - never paid rent - never worried about bills. Once in a while, to show her gratitude, she would place a dead bird on the mat by the front door. This was her way of contributing to the upkeep of the house. I often wondered why she didn't eat the birds she caught, but once I saw her almost choke on a feather and then I knew why.

Being a domestic animal is great. All Chauncey had to do was purr when she was petted - pretend to enjoy chasing a string ball and roll upside down to have her tummy rubbed and that was all that was expected - or delivered.

As I said - I wish I were a cat. Nobody has rubbed my tummy in years.
