Back in The Saddle - wobbling

This weekend the Pasadena Playhouse opened Of Mice and Men and the crowd was as enthusiastic as ever on opening night. (click http://www.reviewplays.com/ for full review).

Spotted in the crowd was Tony Plana, who plays the father in T.V.'s smash hit Ugly Betty. Other than that, there were few Latino faces even though this play has been redefined and the characters are all supposed to be Braceros; Mexican migrant workers. In spite of many PR efforts, the Steinbeck classic drew the regular crowd which rewarded the effort with a standing "O".

Reviewing the play was exciting since this is the first time in about six months that we venture to an opening night. In somewhat of a prelude, we had the pleasure of interviewing John Flynn and Tracie Lockwood. Tracie is starring in The Compleat Female Stage Beauty which John directs at Theatre Theater. The production is the opening shot of a new company called The Rogue Machine, which promises to bring more edgy and new productions which may not be the meat and potatoes of other companies. Here's wishing them the best of luck. You can read their interview at http://www.reviewplays.com/ .

In the next few weeks we will bring more reviews and and interviews and slowly return to the dizzing pace we had before.
